The Ellington Montessori Dance program was developed to support school curriculum, to inspire students to strive for excellence, to increase self-esteem and to cultivate an appreciation for the performing arts.
EMS has partnered with one of Ontario’s premier arts education companies to offer a dynamic co-curricular dance workshops led by established guest artists and instructors. As part of this year’s program, the Lower School students learned to dance their way “around the world” by sampling music and movement from various cultures, including Bollywood, West African, Irish, Carribean and Latin dance styles. Upper School students celebrated culture and diversity through a variety of dance, including Afro-Jazz Fusion, Bandari, Bollywood, Carribean, Flamenco, Hula, and Highland.
